Blessing of the animals

Once again we will commemorate the life and ministry of St. Francis of Assisi as we bring our furry—or winged, or scaly, or whatever—friends to be blessed on Sunday, October 7 at 3 p.m.

The service will take place in the church parking lot (for obvious, practical reasons). This is a great opportunity for you to invite your friends and neighbors (and pets and vets!) to Trinity Lutheran Church! Leashes are not provided, but are a good idea.

Many of the stories that surround the life of St. Francis deal with his love for animals and nature. A well-known legend that sprang up after his death recounts how, one day while Francis was travelling, he told his companions to wait for him while he left the road to “go to preach to my sisters the birds.”
