In the great drama of liturgy, the church highlights different aspects of how God is at work within and among us. Lent is traditionally a time when the Church focuses on Jesus’ suffering love. This year Trinity invites worshippers to keep their eyes on the cross during midweek Lenten worship with the help of renowned German pastor and theologian, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was executed by the Third Reich on April 8, 1945.
Our midweek Lenten services, under the umbrella title “God Is on the Cross,” will draw from Bonhoeffer’s writings on the following topics:
Prayer (Feb. 21)
Self-Denial (Feb. 28)
Suffering (Mar. 7) – with service of healing
Temptation (Mar. 14)
The Cross (Mar. 21)
The musical style will mirror the somber tone of the readings, and will incorporate many meditative songs from the Taizé community of France. Join us on Thursdays at 6 p.m.
