Safe Harbor Campaign: Support for trafficked youth in Wisconsin

safe harborWith traffickers making an estimated $32 billion annually, human trafficking is one of the world’s most shameful crimes and one which robs people of their dignity and basic rights. Victims suffer from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, and rarely have access to an education or to health care.  And trafficking is happening right here in Wisconsin.

Attend our rally to learn more about the problem of human trafficking and specifically about sex trafficking of youth in Wisconsin and how to support funding to help trafficked youth.  Learn also about effective ways to communicate with your legislators.  We are pleased that $2 million to help trafficked youth receive human services is in the proposed state budget.  We are proud that all six bishops with congregations in Wisconsin had earlier sent a letter to the governor, all Wisconsin senators, and assembly people requesting those needed funds.

Join the Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin and Cherish All Children on March 19th at 10 a.m. (9:30 for registration, refreshments, and time to identify your legislators) to noon. We will begin at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 322 E. Washington and end at the capitol. We encourage you to visit your legislators.

Registration Deadline is March 16th. Attend at no cost, but please register:  http://goo.gl/forms/W6xZPUdDa5
