At the 2016 Churchwide Assembly, CA16.05.22 Resolution on Racial Justice was passed by the Assembly:
RESOLVED, that the ELCA in assembly strongly encourage all rostered leaders to receive anti-racism training; and be it further
RESOLVED, that the ELCA in assembly strongly encourage every synod to develop or maintain resources for anti-racism training for rostered leaders and congregation at least every two years.
In recognition of those resolutions, but more importantly because our synod does need to engage in conversation and participate in work toward racial equity, our first Anti-Racism/Racial Equity event is scheduled for January 28. Event registration has been available in the synod newsletter What Matters for the past several weeks, so some of you have already registered. We look forward to seeing you there!
This event is for both congregation members and rostered leaders. Registration will remain open until Jan. 24, and we encourage your participation, not just in the event, but in moving toward racial equity.
