SCSW Racial Equity Ministry Team presents:
Racial Disparities in Incarceration
Sunday, September 24, from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
5701 Raymond Rd., Madison
No registration required
Chaplain Christa Fisher from the Dane County Jail Ministry will address the history of incarceration and the racial disparities that currently exist in incarceration rates based on the history of the United States. The movie “13th” examined that history, as well as Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow.
This is an important event for beginning conversations throughout our synod on jail ministry, remembering Jesus’ words: “When I was sick and imprisoned, you visited me.”
