Music of the Reformation
Celebrate the music of Martin Luther and find out how the Reformation influenced church music through tunes and texts at a hymn sing commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
When: Sunday, October 1, at 2:30 p.m.
Where: St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church sanctuary, 5700 Pheasant Hill Rd., Monona
The hymn sing will be followed by snacks, conversation, and a sampling of Reformation beer.
There is no charge for the event, but a free will offering will be taken to offset costs.
Retired pastor Terry Peterson will provide background on Luther’s times, and information on some of the 39 hymn texts Luther wrote. Bruce Bengtson, director of music at Luther Memorial Church, will play the organ and lead the singing.
